The Secret to Saving Money
You know you need to save more. Yet, if you are like most, your money is spent before it makes it to a savings account. Try these simple strategies to save money:
1. Set up an auto-transfer from checking to savings each period.
$5, $10, $20, or whatever amount you do not need to pay basic bills. The main thing is that you start saving. Start small and increase the transfer amount as you can. Try to forget about the money in savings, so that you are not tempted to withdraw is too soon. Let it accumulate and you will soon have a financial cushion for those unexpected emergencies or for the purchase or down payment on dream items… like a home or car.
2. Take advantage of employer retirement plans.
If your employer offers a 401K or other form of retirement savings plan make contributions each time you get paid. These contributions (deposits) will grow faster than any other savings option. These contributions are made before taxes are taken out of your pay, so they save you money on taxes. Many employers offer to match a certain percentage of your contributions. You should save at least that much in your plan. After all, this is free money that will enable your money to grow more quickly. For example, if your company offers a 3% 401(K) match, and you save 3%, your total annual savings will actually be 6%! What a deal!
3. Use coupons.
Such a simple strategy, but it works. Look for local weekly deals on the items you already purchase to reduce your spending in those categories. Look at your receipts at the end of each week and move the amount you save into your savings account.

Keep Contact Information Current
All financial institutions are seeing an increase in debit card fraud. Kentucky Telco continues to work with our card processors to identify ways that we can safeguard our members. While we review account activity, we also encourage you to review your accounts in a timely manner and report any suspicious activity.
When account fraud is suspected, we may need to contact you to confirm a transaction. If we are unable to contact you using the information we have on file, we may need to decline a transaction or place a temporary block on your account. To avoid any inconvenience, we ask that you update your contact information and that you keep your phone numbers updated at all times.
Please confirm the following information at any branch location:
- Mobile phone number, including area code
- Email address
- Home phone (if applicable)
- Work or alternative phone number
In addition to visiting a branch location, you can confirm/update your contact information by:

2013 Kentuckiana Heart Walk
Kentucky Telco raises money for and participates in the Kentuckiana Start! Heart Walk sponsored by the American Heart Association. The Start! Heart Walk is an annual event that draws thousands of people together to walk and raise funds to prevent heart disease and stroke. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, September 21st at 8:00 am.
Our goal is to raise $3,000 for the American Heart Association. In an effort to reach our goal, each branch will be selling candy bars and hearts for $1 each, beginning in August. Help us support the American Heart Association by purchasing any of the items at your local branch.
Making a positive difference
In April and May, Kentucky Telco and Craig & Landreth Cars partnered to celebrate the WHAS Crusade for Children’s 60th anniversary by donating a combined total of $60 for each Craig & Landreth car financed through Kentucky Telco.

Online Bill Pay System Maintenance
Periodically, it is necessary to perform routine maintenance and updates to our Online Bill Pay System to ensure operating efficiency. We realize that these updates cause a disruption in service, so we want to alert you in advance to allow you to plan accordingly.
Telco’s Online Bill Pay System will be offline from 11 PM on Friday, July 12th through 7:30 AM on Monday, July 15th EST. During this downtime, users will see messages alerting them that our sites are down for maintenance. There may also be a brief period where the sites are completely unavailable.
